SERIES: DEALING WITH UGLYNESS 2008-09

We all go through times in our lives where we feel insecure and unattractive. When feeling depressed, you can be in a room full of people and still feel isolated and alone. The people in these paintings are alone, and are mentally isolated from their surroundings.

These paintings are not about ugly people. Rather they are about what it is like to feel ugly, and the internal struggle that people with mental illness go through while trying to gain social acceptance.
